Roger and his partner Teresa Crespo, who is also a winemaker, but in the Montsant region
Our story
In 2011 our family left The Netherlands to start a new life in Spain. One day we got introduced to the Priorat wine region and were literally overwhelmed by its beauty and fascinating views. The charming medieval villages, the terraced vineyards, the high quality of the wines. But what really captivated us the most was the incredible perseverance of the grapevines. These plants have roots that penetrate the hard slate soil, reaching a depth of up to 14 meters in order to access water.
We were so lucky to get to know Roger Oferil, one of the very best winemakers of Priorat. Roger has a wine cellar where he cultivates his own grapes. Each year, the vineyard produces an increasing amount of grapes, allowing him to make a larger quantity of wine.
In October 2022, we gathered and shared the idea of creating a wine together. We tried different combinations of Garnacha, Syrah, and Carignan, and as a result, we created Pas al Priorat, which represents our journey towards Priorat.
At Pas al Priorat, we believe in creating a wine that captures the true essence of nature. To achieve this, we've made a deliberate choice to not add sulphites during production. Furthermore we don’t use fertilizer, insecticides or pesticides. And our wine is vegan-friendly. We are in love with our Pas al Priorat, edition 2021, and surely hope you will too. Enjoy!
